Lab Biomarkers

Welcome,

Thank you for investing in your health. Our office is not your typical chiropractic office.

Yes, we do chiropractic adjustments and we see the major value that proper structure governs function. However, we also recognize that people who are dealing with chronic issues, the body’s ability to function and recover / heal is also impaired. Our body needs three things to heal and function optimally:

  1. 1. Oxygen

  2. 2. Glucose (blood sugar)

  3. 3. Stimulation

We do not want to overlook any issues that may impair your body’s ability to heal. When the body is dealing with anemia, in other words, a lack of oxygen. When tissues become oxygen deprived this is like running out of fuel in your car. All cellular operations including mitochondrial function, protein coding through endoplasmic reticulum that makes hormones, and autophagy (programmed cell death).

To rule out anemia lab biomarkers to be tested include the following:

  • RBC - Red Blood Cells

  • HGB - Hemoglobin

  • HCT - Hematocrit

  • MCV - Mean Corpuscular Volume

  • MCH - Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin

  • MCHC - Mean Corpuscular Volume Concentration

  • Ferritin - Iron

Normally the CBC can comes with WBC (White Blood cells), more data is always better than less. Including the Ferritin + Iron will rule in or out certain types of anemias if anemia is present.

Second item that we want to confirm that is not problematic is glucose. Fasting glucose from a healthy standpoint should be between 85-100 upon waking up without any food intake. This can be influenced by the meals had or missed the day before the draw so I prefer to look at Hemoglobin A1c. This measures glycoslyated end products for the last 90 days. If these levels are elevated this will have a major impact on your metabolism, antioxidant status, brain health, cardiovascular health, and every other system that uses glucose for fuel.

To rule out blood sugar issues we assess lab biomarker: - Hemoglobin A1c (HgbA1c)

Further in depth analysis include the following biomarkers:

  • Fasting glucose

  • Triglyceride

  • Total Cholesterol

These markers are best assessed within three months of getting tested. As a new patient into our office, if you have all or majority of these biomarkers please bring them with you on your first visit so we may rule in or rule out metabolic issues. If you do not have these biomarkers tested you may get them all by yourself by going to this website.
